Supervisor Software Engineering
You will play a key role in leading the Embedded Software Engineering for one of the 3 Software engineering groups within the Application Software department, to enable DAF Trucks to expand their excellent position in the market by making trucks safer to drive, easier to operate in the best possible way to the truck driver. For Embedded Engineering, part of DAF Product Development, we are searching for an Supervisor Application Software.
As Supervisor Application Software you will be leading a group of 15+ on-site software engineers, working on development of embedded Application Software for embedded controls used in heavy duty vehicle applications. The group is working on multiple platforms for multiple projects, typically in an agile team set-up. Your focus will be on People, Processes and Technology, to support the software engineers and put them in their strenghts. You are responsible for the documentation and maintenance of processes related to application software development. Together with the project lead engineer and the platform owner you will be part of the Delivery team for prioritization and monitoring progess of the software delivery. At strategical level you will co-operate with the colleagues Supervisors Application Software and Engineering Manager.
In this position you will report to the Engineering Manager of the Application Software department.
Your responsibilities
• Develop and align Agile teams
• Coach en support all Software Engineers in your group
• Align application software development processes over projects
• Deploy application of software development processes and deliverables based upon Automotive SPICE
• Define roadmap for future application software development processes and techniques
• Manage allocation of employees, in close alignment the Engineering manager Application Software and pProject Management
• Organize frequent group meetings for bi-directional information and status exchange
• Create resource forecasts based on project activities and contents as part of project plans and budgeting
• Monitor project proceedings with scrum master, project lead engineers and engineering manager
• Identify and select tools and methods to maximize efficiency of the engineering group
• Create and maintain the roadmap for required competences and skills of the engineering group
• Personal development of skill and competences for the direct reports
The Supervisor Application Software reports to the Engineering Manager of the Application Software department.
Functie-eisen
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
• Master Degree in (Embedded) Software Engineering or equivalent
• Knowledge of Automotive Safety (ISO26262), Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE-21434, UN155&156) and system development (Automotive SPICE) standards
• At least 7 year of relevant working experience with:
o Leading a teams of engineers/specialists
o Automotive embedded application software development and processes
o Agile software development and model based software development
o Working in a project matrix structure
• Strong interpersonal skills, especially listening and synthesizing
• Analytical skills and the ability to abstract from the current situation
• Ability to act and adapt in a fast changing environment serving multiple stakeholders
• Ability to collaborate across different groups having varying levels of expertise and skill
• People manager with soft skills, leading the development and succession for the direct reports
• Fluent in English language - effective communication in both verbal and written form. Willing to learn Dutch language.
Arbeidsvoorwaarden
Contract through Yacht of at least 1 year, we follow the salary chart of DAF Trucks. For this position the salary range depends on highest earned degree and years of experience. The range is between € 4.500,- upto max € 7.300,- gross per month based on 36 hours a week (excluding holiday allowance of 8.33%). 37.5 hour work week.
Yacht also has benefits as a home office budget of € 750,- and annually a budget of € 3.500,- for following courses to further develop in your career.

You will be part of an experienced international team of the Application Software department of DAF Embedded Engineering that is located in our modern new office building in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Embedded Engineering has over 190 highly skilled people today. Together they deliver world class engineering in the domains of engine controllers and vehicle control units.
Next to that, focusing on common software development, Embedded Engineering works closely together with PACCAR Embedded Engineering US located in Mount Vernon, Kirkland and Lewisville (Tx).
The products developed within Embedded Engineering are applied on DAF trucks but also in the famous PACCAR brands Kenworth and Peterbilt. Through component sales our products are used by leading bus and coach manufacturers.
