As an optomechatronic control specialist in complex Space and Semiconductor projects you act as the point-of-contact for the control discipline within an opto-mechatronic project, sometimes functioning as the sole control specialist in a project, sometimes responsible for leading a team of 2-3 dynamics & control specialists and engineers in a project.

Functie-eisen

  • Master’s or PhD in a relevant STEM field with a strong focus on applied research.
  • Proven ability to translate complex theoretical concepts into practical, real-world solutions.
  • Strong collaborative skills for working in multidisciplinary, innovation-driven teams.
  • Excellent command of English; Dutch language skills are highly preferred for local stakeholder interaction.
  • Experience managing technical projects or work packages within a fast-paced environment.
  • Sharp analytical mindset with the ability to align technical output with client and societal needs.
  • Valid work authorization for the Netherlands and ability to meet security clearance requirements.
  • Effective communication style for engaging with academic, government, and industry partners.
  • Result-oriented approach focused on creating measurable social and economic impact.

Competenties

  • You preferably also enjoy the managerial aspects of being the point-of-contact for the control discipline in a project.
  • You are able to oversee the required mechatronics- and control-related efforts in a new project, are able to make realistic schedule and cost estimates, define your own control-related contributions and put the right people on the right subtasks if needed.
  • You enjoy monitoring your team’s progress and facilitating your team with tools and resources.
  • You are honest, transparent, have trust in your control specialists and dare to take responsibility of their results.
  • You can interface with the system engineer and interact with optical experts to downflow and translate relevant requirements to the control team and return important results back to the system engineer and/or the optical designer.
  • You enjoy interfacing with partners, subcontractors, suppliers and customers and have experience with deriving specifications for required hardware and defining acceptance tests.
  • You are able to balance between getting to the bottom of things (scientific curiosity) and getting things done in time (deliverables).
