Currently, we are looking for a Financial Controller for DSM. Based in Maastricht, Netherlands. You are closely working with the French manufacturing site of Village-Neuf.

As a Legal Entity Controller, you will be responsible for the coordination, monitoring, reporting, and analysis of the legal entity’s financial statements. You will implement and supervise structured interactions with all relevant stakeholders, including BG account managers, other financial control teams (CCS, OCS, TP), Financial Shared Services, internal and external auditors, and when applicable, Lead Management Accountants and Business Partners for service units.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Actuals and Closing: You will ensure the delivery and execution of finance actuals, closing, and reporting activities for the assigned reporting unit(s). This includes performing a sanity check of the P&L, coordinating variance analysis, ensuring the integrity of financial statements and management reports, and performing balance sheet monitoring. You will review the integrity and quality of all sub-ledgers, coordinate supporting documentation on accruals and provisions, and actively monitor the financial closing process. Additionally, you will lead pre-close meetings, oversee implementations like judgment-based accruals, and define and follow up on mitigation actions during the closing process to ensure accuracy and timeliness of actuals. You will also drive monthly evaluation meetings and follow up on issues and improvement actions.

Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting: Supporting the business in setting up budget and forecast cycles, you will upload and lock budget and RAF data in CFIN.

Finance Reporting: You will provide reports for provisions and accruals, support management reporting for BG/BU, and monthly reporting for forecast/actuals and cash flow. Ensuring the integrity of data used in management reports related to the legal entity is crucial.

Internal Control and Auditing: Ensuring compliance with DSM internal control requirements, you will monitor the internal control framework monthly and follow up on remediation plans. You will act as the single point of contact for all internal and external audits, follow up on financial audit findings, ensure correct and complete recognition of assets and liabilities, and ensure roles and responsibilities align with updated ARIS flows and approved standard House of Finance processes.


We are looking for an ambitious and talented Financial with the following:

  • A (post) Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting/Financial Controlling, and/or a licensed certified public accountant;
  • Over 4 years of experience in Accounting/Controlling;
  • Knowledge and experience in a Shared Service environment;
  • In-depth understanding of finance and accounting processes;
  • Extensive knowledge of ERP systems (SAPR3);
  • Fluency in English and French. Knowledge of Dutch is not required but useful in communication
