ASML is a leading provider of advanced technology systems for the semiconductor industry, employing over 19.000 people in 16 countries. Its success is based on four pillars: technology leadership combined with customer and supplier intimacy, highly efficient manufacturing processes and entrepreneurial people.
Sourcing Operations is part of the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Department and handles all operational activities regarding suppliers. You will be working in a team of Tactical Buyers / Operational Supplier Coordinators and report to a team lead. Working at the cutting edge of tech, you’ll always have new challenges and new problems to solve – and working together is the only way to do that. You won’t work in a silo. Instead, you’ll be part of a creative, dynamic work environment where you’ll collaborate with supportive colleagues. There is always space for creative and unique points of view. You’ll have the flexibility and trust to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems.
ASML is a Dutch high-tech company and one of the main suppliers of machines for the semiconductor industry, in particular steppers and scanners used in making chips. Customers are mostly chip manufacturers. ASML's headquarters and business complex is in Veldhoven, where both research and development and assembly take place in clean rooms. The company also has 60 service points in 14 countries to support the installation and delivery of machines and spare parts.
ASML emerged from a joint venture between ASM International and Royal Philips. ASML supplies worldwide, but most of its customers are based in Asia. In 2011, 66% of sales were generated in that region, 25% in the United States and just under 9% in Europe. The largest customer accounted for a quarter of total sales. ASML's main supplier is Zeiss, a manufacturer of lenses and optical components. Zeiss' share of ASML's total procurement costs is just under 30%. Because of the strong mutual interests, the two companies have entered into a strategic alliance; it can only be broken if one of the parties gives three years' notice. ASML spends a lot of money on research and development.
