Working at Lightyear is a unique experience. You get the opportunity to work for a company with a pure and meaningful mission. A mission that will make a positive and lasting impact on future generations.

What will you do as Functional Safety Manager?

At Lightyear we have several domains which are basically teams within a particular field of expertise. As Functional Safety Manager you will be responsible for the Functional Safety Management Activities of one or several projects, depending on the size of those projects. Each day will be different. Every day you'll start with deciding which activities have the highest priority. Then you might attend a stand-up for one of your projects and check whether the Functional Safety Activities that need to be done this sprint are on track, or whether interventions are needed.

In your “focus” time you spend some time updating the safety plan and checking whether the work products that were delivered last week are available and complete.

In the afternoon, you discuss the functional safety strategy for another project with the architect, the project manager and the functional safety engineer of that project. Together you decide how to assure that the functional safety requirements are delivered and met in time, and how tailoring can be done such that there is a good balance between making the deadline in time and obtaining reasonable safety. You use the outcome of the meeting to update the safety plan and the document management plan. Finally you prepare some documentation to support PM and procurement to assure a good cooperation (with regard to FuSa) with the suppliers of the project.

Your job is focused on, but not limited to:

  • Plan, coordinate & track functional safety activities for several internal projects
  • Plan, coordinate & track functional safety activities for systems that are developed in cooperation with other parties (e.g. suppliers)
  • Perform confirmation measures for several projects (both internal and in cooperation with other parties)
  • Plan, support and execute internal and external (functional) safety assessments and audits
  • Support the Quality Manager to institute and maintain a quality management system to support functional safety
  • Define, Assign & Communicate roles and responsibilities
  • Create (functional) safety cases
  • Train engineers and project managers on functional safety

  • A Bachelor and/or Master degree in Electrical, Software Engineering or related
  • 5 years of experience in the field of Functional Safety within a high-tech environment
  • At least 2 years of experience as Functional Safety Manager
  • Experience in the application of safety standards ISO26262 and automotive safety analysis
  • A teamplayer with the ability to work with tight deadlines in a multi-discipline, multi-project environment
  • Drive to define and continually improve processes
  • Project management skills
  • Familiar with automotive development and quality processes

  • Availability for 40 hours a week

On a personal level you are someone who is accurate, influential, communicative, logical, accommodating, persuasive, a perfectionist with a positive and pragmatic attitude. You are a good networker with strong social and communication skills and of course you are cautious in your approach. Do you recognize yourself?
