Making a difference as a Senior Second Line Control Monitoring Officer within the department Operational Risk, you can make a difference by:
-Taking the lead in developing monitoring skills of the team Executing independent control monitoring.
-Identifying opportunities to improve the controls and/or the control testing.
-Reviewing remediation actions related to key controls (such as control weaknesses, KRIs/KCIs, etc.).
-Providing an independent opinion on Control Effectiveness towards First Line Business/Control Owners and Second Line Risk Managers.

With you as a Senior Second Line Control Monitoring Officer, the team will consist of ten diverse colleagues in a variety of roles, including: Second Line Monitoring Team: - Wholesale & Rural NL - Operations Retail (CIOO) - Support Domains: CEO, CFO, CHRO & CLR
Aly Gouda, Second Line Control Monitoring Officer: In this role I provide Second Line Testing within the Wholesale & Rural area in NL. We test both on design and operating effectiveness within the timeframe of our annual planning. Besides that, we accommodate oversight with additional information from our Second Line Control Testing as input for the risk cycle. The colleagues in our team have different backgrounds, we are tight knit and always willing to make each other better with constructive discussions.
Second Line Control Effectiveness Monitoring is relatively new for this part of the bank but there is widespread agreement that Second Line Control Effectiveness Control Monitoring needs to be put in place. You will execute and improve the Second Line Integrated Control Effectiveness Monitoring within this bank and be part of the global control effectiveness monitoring community. As a senior you will spend 50% of your time on coaching your colleagues to improving the control monitoring skills of the team.
The other 50% of the job consists of analyzing and evaluating business processes, risks and controls on their design and operating effectiveness and act upon the testing results together with the control owners in the first line and your Oversight colleagues in the second line. Together we aim to create better and effective controls in the most efficient way. In this function you will be also in contact with Audit (third line). You will report to the Manager of the Second Line Monitoring Team within Operational Risk. With you Customer focus, team player, hands-on mentality, coaching skills and an independent mind set are clearly essential for the role of Senior Second Line Control Monitoring Officer.
In addition, it's important that you recognize everything in the checklist below:
-You have a relevant Bachelor or Masters degree;
-you are fluent in Dutch;
-You have more than 5 years of work experience in Operational Risk, Audit and/or in a relevant business function in the first line (business-operations) and have a good understanding of the Risk and Control Framework;
-You have experience in identifying opportunities to improve processes & -controls and implementation thereof;
-You have experience in coaching on the job;
-You are result oriented and know how to realize our goals;
Based on your analytical skills and your personal confidence, you are:
-able to create an independent view on control effectiveness;
-You challenge your colleagues and are prepared to be challenged by senior management, auditors and supervisors;
-You provide countervailing power to senior management across this bank;
