The R&D department Product Safety & Environment (PS&E) delivers an important contribution to our product development. Within this department a group of 6 experts is specialized in chemical compliance of the materials that are applied in our productive print engines and related equipment. This concerns inks, toners and other materials that are applied in our printers.
Within this department, we are looking for an experienced GHS compliance specialist who wants to work together with R&D chemical engineers on the development of safe and environmentally friendly print supplies for the professional market. Someone who is interested in a job with a global scope, where he or she is responsible for securing product safety and compliance for a variety of chemicals and products.
In this role you contribute with your knowledge and skills to the development and engineering teams of several R&D projects. You keep overview of international registrations and notifications of our products, including annual reporting. You create, review and maintain product safety related documents (e.g. SDSs) and labels ensuring regulatory compliance. You interpret legislation worldwide and assess the impact on current and future products.
To make sure products and chemicals are and remain in compliance you cooperate intensively with your colleagues within the department, as well as the specialists in product development by providing advice in a proactive and timely manner. Together you ensure regulatory compliance on a global level. You are responsible to keep internal procedures that support the engineering processes up-to-date. You support R&D projects in the safety evaluation of finalized printer products. With your strong analytical skills, a keen eye and your accurate attitude you combine all available data and assessment results into concise chemical safety documents.

Within our innovation centers, Graphic Arts printers are developed to fit to the customer demands: fast, versatile and delivering beautiful prints. One of the R&D projects, for example, is developing a printer system with speeds above 150 m2/hour. It needs to print on a range of materials, varying from porous paper to flexible vinyl with a high, reproducible quality regarding color and appearance. Next to the demands of these applications, the inks also need to comply to worldwide chemical legislation and internal company standards.
Your job is to secure the compliance of the inks in our next product. You know where the R&D projects that you work with are heading for. Will you assess the safety and environmental risks of the inks? Can you find answers to questions about compliance of the new materials of which the ink is composed? Once the final recipes are chosen, during engineering and pre-production, you will work together with the chemical engineers to verify if all documentation is complete, verify notifications and prepare Safety Data Sheets for worldwide release of the next generation Graphic Arts inks.
- Bachelor degree in chemistry with 3-5 years of relevant experience in product stewardship
- Good working knowledge of REACH, GHS and CLP
- Accurate in your work
- Fluent in English
