Senior Data Scientist
Artificial intelligence, machine learning and innovative search solutions. You improve Randstad Groep Netherlands’ business with your state-of-the-art systems. As a Senior Data Scientist you will take on an important role in growing Randstad’s data science capability.
What will be your assignment?
As part of a new project, called Randstad Accelerate, one of the defined objectives is the redesign of our algorithms.
For the Data Science Talent team we are looking for an experienced Data Scientist who can help us to further develop our recommendation systems to provide recommendations in real time. In this team we mainly use the following technologies: AWS (ECS, Kinesis, SQS, S3, RDS), Docker, Airflow, Elasticsearch, Python, Scala.
What we expect from you
Your responsibility will be to cooperate with several data scientists on the team to work towards production-ready versions of machine learning models. Your main tasks will be to challenge and assist teams during all phases of model development: from idea incubation and experimentation to prototyping and eventually industrialisation. As such, you have a good understanding of what it takes to create valuable AI solutions and you will need to feel at home at the intersection between business, data science, and software development.
To be successful during this assignment, we think you will at least need to have proven higher educational level and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Furthermore you will at least need experience with…
- Python, minimal 2/3 year experience with: pandas, numpy, matplotlib, scikit-learn
- NLP at least regex (regular expressions), but preferably information retrieval
- Linux bash commands, scripting languages and Git
You preferably also have experience with…
- Recommendation systems
- A/B testing
- AWS: SageMaker, S3, RedShift
And to a lesser extent:
- Airflow (just the basics of scheduling - knowing how it works and what a DAG is)
- Jenkins (basics of CI/CD)
- Docker (basics of containerization)
- software engineering
- testing (TDD)
The skills and competencies we think you’ll certainly need are:
- fluent in English, both orally and in writing
- understand Dutch in writing (all data is Dutch)

The Data Science Talent team
The team consists of 8 members in total; three data engineers, two data scientists, a scrum master and a product owner. There is an interesting cross-fertilization with the other innovation/scrum teams and with departments outside the IT department. This way you connect with various stakeholders in the organization, such as product owners, and with internal and external end users such as recruiters, marketeers and candidates. There is ample opportunity to expand your knowledge and learn from your colleagues.
The goal of the Data Science Talent team is to complement the expertise of Randstad by building state of the art artificial intelligence, machine learning algorithms and search- and match solutions. With these solutions we can present unique insights to users, based on all available information and user preferences, at the right time and in the right context. Our goal is to support our clients, talents and recruiters in finding the information they need in their journey.
We value continuous learning. Therefore, we organize a research day every two weeks, where we have the time to research topics and techniques that are of interest to us. Moreover we share our learnings to not only promote personal growth, but also growth as a team.
