A part of the R&D organization is the Enabling Modules and Technology Group. This group of multi-disciplinary teams is responsible for the development of modules and technologies, focused on platform infrastructure for Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). The teams work on various different microscope components and infrastructures like vacuum, mechanical structures (bases, enclosures, hoists), power supplies, cabling, electronics cabinets, cooling solutions and IT solutions.
As Sr Electrical Designer you will be part of an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team and you will be responsible for the electrical infrastructure designs and integration into our high end microscopes. You will work closely together with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, architects, project manager, suppliers but also with disciplines outside R&D like operations and service.
You will typically be involved in 2 to 3 projects or activities in parallel. In these projects you will see your designs grow from a conceptual idea to a part of a finished product for our customers. You will own the infrastructure required to connect all electrical modules in the microscope and combine them into a complete system which is functioning according specifications, robust, safe and designed for manufacturing and serviceability. The decisions made by you and the team you work with will have direct business impact. Your challenge will be to find solutions for technological complex problems, meeting the needs of all your stakeholders, combining short term goals with long term needs.
Duties and responsibilities
- Take ownership of the electrical cabinet and electrical infrastructure roadmap
- Define, specify and own new electrical designs (including the related mechanics) and drive them to results.
- Able to translate stakeholder needs into a well-defined set of use cases and requirements
- Support, steer and motivate internal and external electrical design teams (suppliers)
- Develop high tech solutions with specifications (including cost) and timing in mind.
- Define test plans and supervise execution
- Able to guide and steer 3D cable routing / Volume Management
The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
- BSc or MSc degree or equivalent in electrical engineering.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience and proven results in a similar function.
- Experience with high tech electrical infrastructure for professional industry.
- Experience with electrical cabinet infrastructure, power distribution, electro-mechanics and cabling is a preference
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations
