Over de functie
Are you looking for a challenging job in an industrial R&D environment? Do you have a Master in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Physics, and strong affinity for physical processes and interactions? Do you like image processing, pattern recognition and complex algorithms? This is a key role in assuring high quality prints and top performing printing systems.
Your job as Designer Image Processing
In our complex machines, a lot of disciplines have to come together to achieve the best possible image print quality. It is all about imaging; customers require our print systems to match printed images to its originals; perfectly ranging from A4 prints to prints of billboard size. Only with a smart digital print process, we are able to realize the full potential of our product. The digital print process covers image processing, image analysis, print strategy, measurements and control to achieve perfect image quality.
As designer you work in a multidisciplinary team responsible for realizing the best digital print process by predicting, analyzing and optimizing imaging performance of print systems. You apply image processing principles and latest techniques to enhance and optimize images making use of your knowledge of the specific characteristics of inkjet print heads and their artefacts.
Together with your team you translate requirements, from where you will need to design, experiment and validate. It’s a hands-on job, and to be successful in this role you understand other disciplines, understand the system and apply this knowledge to develop the necessary image processing in Matlab and control algorithms. These algorithms need to be accurate, robust and efficient enabling high quality prints.
You prototype algorithms and software, and you also experiment and test these to ensure your designs meet the requirements. On top of this, you pro-actively look for opportunities to add further value to the product with your solutions.
In this job you experiment, understand and invent. You are able to analyze a complex problem to the root cause, and define new solutions - breakthroughs, achieving new quality or enabling new technology. You work closely with hardware specialists, software developers, and print head experts, critical for high quality prints.
Who are we looking for?
- Academic level of working and thinking, Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Physics is highly preferred
- Proven affinity for physical processes and interactions as well as image quality, and strong in identifying opportunities and translating them into solutions
- You recently graduated or have about 1-3 years’ work experience
- You are forward-thinker and like to combine creativity, modeling, with conducting & hands on experiments to develop successful products
- You speak up and show a lot of initiative, strong organizing and decision making skills, pragmatic with an analytical view
- Excellent communication skills in English; verbal and written. Knowledge of Dutch is advantageous
