We are looking for a Computational Physics Expert with experience in modeling for Scanning electron microscope (SEM) imaging to join ASML Research team!
Are you challenged by demanding projects in a multidisciplinary context? Do you have the technical capabilities to provide innovative solutions? Does contributing to the world’s most advanced lithography machines makes you feel responsible and proud? Then this might be the right opportunity for you.
The mission of this position is to devise new methods for quantitative assessment of SEM images that account for charging phenomena in samples with dielectrics, as is the case with photo-resist layers in wafer-metrology for the semicon industry. The research will be executed in the group Sensors, Metrology and Computational Modeling (SMC) at ASML-Research.
You are going to:
Execute research on the physics of charging effects related to trapping of secondary electrons as generated by the primary electron probe in a SEM.
Understand the physics of SEM charging in terms of a full-fledged physical model.
Devise a simplified lower-complexity model that can be used as a module within the framework of quantitative SEM imaging software, and also with links to a computational lithography framework.
Take responsibility for the quality of the models and where needed validate the results against findings from literature, other models and if needed experiments.
Design and perform validation experiments using real SEM data.
PhD in Physics or Applied Mathematics with computational - physics background and with proven track record for computational modeling of complex physical systems
A few years of working experience as a Post-doc is preferred.
Expertise in: Mathematical modeling, Computational physics, applications to Semiconductor physics, Scientific computing.
A background in modeling for SEM is a clear advantage.
Experience working with Matlab.
Familiar with programming in C/C++.
We are looking for a person with the following skills-set:
