Over de functie

Part of our R&D organization, the department Analysis (+/- 50 employees) contributes to product developments and research subjects from an expertise point of view. The department houses several specialist measurement techniques, develops and ensures sufficient knowledge on crucial subjects related to printing technologies and maintains relations with external (research) partners. Within this department you are part of the chemical analytical measurement cluster (+/- 12 professionals). This team is working closely with counterparts at product development teams on a myriad of subjects such as inks and ink components, toner, media, de-inkability and product safety.

To expand the team we are looking for a Pigment (dispersion) Researcher. The main goal of this candidate is to expand the cluster & capabilities to adequately support the R&D organization with pigment dispersion research. The pigment researcher will study relevant pigmented systems, with a focus on the characterization of the composition (pigment particles, additives, surfactants, etc.). This research should generate insight into the design of pigment dispersions coming from various commercial suppliers and assist in identifying the causes of pigment-related failure mechanisms in inkjet printing. The development of analytical measurement methods is mandatory for enabling this research work, which will also be a major task of the pigment researcher.

Experience with TGA (Thermo Gravimetric Analysis) and NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) are important requirements for the successful fulfillment of this role. Relevant experience with pigment dispersion research is a valuable asset.

  • Candidate has at least an MSc degree in Analytical Chemistry or a closely related field. PhD is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with TGA and NMR are required. Research experience in the field of pigment dispersions is strongly preferred, experience with other relevant analytical techniques is a plus.
  • To be successful in this role, the candidate must have good communication skills (e.g., collaboration with R&D projects). Creativity and the ability to work independently are also important skills.
  • Candidate has profound knowledge - verbal and written - of English and, preferably, Dutch.
